Promoting good dental health for pets – Dental health matters!

We take your pet’s dental health seriously at Village Vets

Village Vets Dental Health Month: 1st - 31st March 2017
In fact, it’s one of the most important aspects of your pet’s health to keep an eye on.

Our furry friends don’t complain of toothache, and they don’t show that they’re in any distress, so apart from the occasional whiff of bad breath it’s generally out of sight and out of mind.

It’s therefore shocking to discover that 80% of dogs show signs of oral disease by the time they’re 3, but that’s not so surprising when you think that could be equivalent to 18-21 years old in human years. Imagine if we didn’t brush our teeth or go to the dentist for 21 years – We’d probably have bad breath, wobbly teeth and pain from dental disease too.

And here’s something even more important than just the pain it causes: If dental disease in your pet is left to develop, bacteria can enter the bloodstream and spread to vital organs like the heart and kidneys. This can cause serious and untreatable long-term conditions, and often premature death.

Research has proved that keeping your mouth healthy can add 2 years to your pet’s life!

To make sure your pet is kept healthy, we’re launching a dental awareness campaign from March 2017. We’re offering FREE dental check-ups during March and April for any cat or dog over 3 to see how things are going. Even if your pet arrives with a film-star smile, we’ll tell you all the simple ways to help keep it that way.

As an extra bonus we’ll give every VIP Club member a FREE preventative dental health pack, and 10% off any dental treatment required*

Dental problems often are not covered by pet insurance, so not only does it make sense to keep an eye on your pet’s teeth from a health perspective, it also makes sense financially. If we can deal with any potential issues early, then it can save you hundreds of pounds in dental work to try and sort out painful dental disease and tooth loss.
